ARMISTEAD, Helen McGuire, 80, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, December 23 2001, at the South Roanoke Nursing Home. She was the daughter of Howard and Linda McGuire. She is survived by Col. Victor Armistead, her husband for 56 years; and son and daughter-in-law, Thomas D. and Dru Armistead, of Calif. She had three lovely granddaughters, a nephew, Robert F. Crone of Fla. Helen graduated from Jefferson High School, class of '38, and Longwood College, class of '42. Helen joined the WAAC's September of 1942, and was separated from the WAC's November 1945, with the rank of Staff Sergeant. As an Air Force Officer's wife, she was outstanding in support of the Air Force and her husband.
