Mrs. Angeline Matlock Floyd was born in Bowling Green, KY, November 18, 1847, moved to this community with her parents in early childhood. January 13, 1867 she was married to Charles Augustus Floyd. Mr. Floyd died in 1894, Of the eleven children born to these parents only one has been called home, and the mother was left with ten children, some grown to man and womanhood, some remaining in the home to be loved and protected, and with a mother's love and strength, she reared them.
She was a home loving woman, a good mother and a kind neighbor. A member of the Presbyterian church since early childhood.
Her illness was of a nature that had laid it's hold upon her system before her condition was fully realized, and noted specialsts called in consultation, only held out hopes for relief, but not return of health, and before her friends really knew of her condition she had been called home, passing away at 5:55 pm Wednesday October 11th, Rev. C. H. Spence conducted the funeral service at the home Friday afternoon at 3 o'clocl and the remains were laid to rest in the Family Cemetery.
In addition to her sons, daughters and grandchildren, she is survived by two brothers, Thomas Matlock of Petrolia, and James Matlock of Quanah; tow sisters, Mrs. Gracey and Mrs. Mathes of Lisbon, who were at her funeral.
The daughters are as follows: Mrs. Joe Boyd, Pembroke, KY; Mrs. W. R. GiffordDenison, TX; Mrs. Burden deceased; Mrs. W. H. Cutler, Hutchins, TX.;Mrs. R. M. Moore, Lancaster, TX.; Mrs. S. B. Slayback Petrolia, TX.;
The sons are:
O. M. Floyd;
F. C. Floyd;
A. B. Floyd;
K. D. Floyd;
and George W. of Electra, TX.
All living children were at the funeral save Mrs. Gifford.
