John Jones, the Second, died circa 1832, as his will was made on Monday, April 23, 1832 and was probated at the January Term 1833, Dickson County Court. I have no knowledge of where he was buried, but presume his grave is in Dickson County. His wife Jane (James) Jones, died March 18, 1856, age 68. She is buried in the Jones Family Cemetery, on the farm of her son Thomas Jefferson Jones, in Graves County, Kentucky.

Jane and John, had six sons; Thomas Jefferson, Josiah, James
Madison, Joshua, William, and John, Jr., and four daughters;
Arabella, Martha Patsy, Nancy, and Jane.

The Daughters
ARABELLA, (Abbie) was born on Friday, March 9, 1821. She married Dixon Robinson, they settled near Casy, Illinois. Dixon, was a very successful farmer and quite measured by the standards of his day and he was "close" with his money. Dixon and Arabella had two sons and two daughters. She worked hard, her husband being so miserly would ,not buy her a cock stove, so all her cooking was done on the fire-place. Family legend has it: that Dixon hoarded his money
in a chest and after his death it took four men to carry the chest to the bank. We must remember that in those days there was not much confidence in paper money, coin being much preferred. For Abbie it meant release from drudgery. She furnished her home with new furnishings and we can well imagine that her first purchase must have been the purchase of the latest model of kitchen stove. She dressed herself in silk, she also made a visit to Kentucky to see her brother Jeffie, (Thomas Jefferson.) She loved to smoke a pipe and
she lived to be quite old.

MARTHA PATSY, was born on Friday, July 16, 1824. She married a Mr. Carter and Lived in Kentucky.

NANCY, was born on Monday, December 5, 1825. She married a Mr. Yandell and lived in Oklahoma.

JANE, was born in 1827. She married John Crawford they came to Kentucky from Dickson County, Tennessee along with her brother Jeffie, and his wife and family with their possessions in wagons. However, Jane and her husband stayed in Kentucky only a short time traveling on by wagon to Missouri, and a short time later over to Arkansas.
There they settled and there she was during the Civil War.

After the death of her husband John Crawford, she married a man by the name of Cantrell, they lived near Leachv11e, Arkansas. Cantrell had a son by a former marriage. Jane said that he sure was a bad "young'un”. She and Cantrell were soon separated, she going to stay for a while with her sister Nancy in Oklahoma, later to her sister Arabella, in Illinois, and then to her brother Jefferson,
where she remained until his death. Jane had no children, she was industrious, saving and a good housekeeper. She was out-spoken, of a very suspicious nature, most annoying traits especially to her young nieces and nephews.

The Sons
THOMAS JEFFERSON, their first son, our great, great, grandfather, we will talk about later and give just a brief sketch here of his brothers followed by their war service records. These records taken from Historical Collection Tennessee State Library and Archives Building, Room 206, Nashville, Tennessee.

JOSIAH, (Jose Joe) wag born on Saturday, March 9, 1816. Joe was red-headed, he was a hunter and an adventurer, always looking for new worlds to conquer.

JOSHUA, was born on Saturday, March 28, 1817. He was not as husky as his brothers and when he got into a fight he would resort to the use of a knife. He settled and died in Missouri.

John, Jr., was born on Friday, March 27 1818. He served in the Cherokee Indian War. He went to Mississippi as an overseer on a plantation. There he became ill and died of the fever.
