Nell Rose Davis, 86, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 1977 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, having suffered a heart attack.

Nell was born to Lewis N. and Martha L. Cloyd on May 30, 1891 in Cowley County, Kansas. She married Virgil B. Davis July 28, 1917 in McAlester. He preceded her in death March 19, 1932. Nell lived for a while in San Antonio, where she worked as a clerk at J.C. Penny's, Sears, and Joske's before returning to McAlester. She had been a resident there for some 30 years before moving to Tulsa to be near her son and his family.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of McAlester and had been active in Eastern Star. She enjoyed fishing and watching championship wrestling matches on TV with her sister, Annie. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.

At the time of her passing she was survived by her son, Virgil B. Davis, Jr. of Broken Arrow; three brothers, Bert Cloyd of Sayre, Ed Cloyd of McAlester and Joe Cloyd of Oolagah; a sister, Anna Sartin of Cedar Vale, Kansas; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 15th, at Chaney Funeral chapel in McAlester. Interment followed at Oak Hill cemetery in McAlester. Christian Funeral Home of Broken Arrow handled arrangements.
