GILBERT, Richard A., Jr. Corporal age 26 died in a helicopter crash while honorably serving his country in Iraq on Wednesday, January 26, 2005. Born May 12, 1978 in Dayton, OH. Richard was employed for 7 years at BEHR, Dayton Thermal Products where he was cherished by all who knew him. He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Mary Martin; mother & step-father, Helen Gilbert and Bill Dawes; father & step-mother, Richard Gilbert, Sr. & Cindy Curry; brother, Robert (Bo) Gilbert; sisters, Melissa Rader and Melinda (Jason) Hollon; very special nephews, Stephen & Chad Rader, Reilly Gilbert and Travis Hollon and niece Tressa Hollon "Precious"; and a host of other relatives and friends. A great many people loved Richard, he touched everyone he met. Please join the family as they celebrate Richard's life on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005 at 10:00 AM in the Marker & Heller Funeral Home, Huber Heights Chapel, 5844 Old Troy Pike with Pastor Samuel E. Slagle officiating. He will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery near his beloved grandfather, Woodrow Martin. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5-8 PM. The family would like to thank Captain Adam Close, USMC and his staff for all their assistance. We would like to extend a special thank you to Staff Sgt. Lonnie McMurchy not only for acting in the capacity with the Marine Corp but for being a close family friend all of Richard's life.
