I know for certain from my family that John Greenfield Black is his full name.

He was promoted up through the ranks to Quarter Master Sgt for the Union. He survived several battles in Springfield Missouri. He fought for Arkansas.

John and Laurinda had 9 children but only 4 lived:
Lorinda "Dora" b. Oct 1865 married William L. Shetley in 1885 in Missouri (had 4 boys and 2 girls)

Willis Grant Black - married: Elizabeth "Lizzie" Marie McClellen (had several children)

Mary "Mollie" Ellen Coger - married: Damon A. Coger

Harriet "Hattie" Parthenia Johnson - married: William Marion "Apple Bill" Johnson (had 9 children) MY DIRECT LINE

Everett M. Black - married: Faner Langley
