Anne Grigsby, 91, passed away after a brief illness on March 13, 2013, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park. Her son and granddaughter with her at the time of her passing.

Anne was born near Viola on April 27, 1921, and spent her childhood there. She graduated from Southwestern College in 1943. She was married to Carle Dix of Winfield until his death in 1983. She was an elementary school teacher at Coats, Milton and Anson, and was a counselor at Winfield High School from 1959 until her retirement in 1986. She was married to Charles Gigsby of Cullison in June of 1987.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marie Ewing, and her sister, Lois Ewing Cartmell.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Grigsby; her brother, Don Ewing and wife Georganna; her son, Michael Dix and wife Kris; grandchildren, Kendall and Caitlin Dix.

Other family members include nieces, Kathy Randolph and children, Brook, Lauren and Stewart; Julie Hanson, husband Rod and children Russelle and Isaac; nephew, John Ewing, wife Terry and children, Chase, Alex and Grant; and Charles Grigsby's daughter, Parthena Owens, husband Roger and son Cameron.

Anne was a kind, generous and loving wife and mother. She was genuinely concerned about other people and how they were doing. She enjoyed teaching, counseling, and valued her relationships with her students. She was a member of PEO and a strong supporter of Southwestern College, where she served on the Board of Trustees from 1990 through 2001. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. April 13 at Viola Baptist Church in Viola. A private family interment will follow at Viola Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Southwestern College, 100 College Street, Winfield, KS 67156.
