Christopher was the 4th of 7 children of Rudolph Bair and Barbara Yerian of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and Stark County, Ohio. He was baptized Lutheran in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, on March 30, 1788, sponsors Christoph and Elisabetha Lawengayer.
Before 1812, he married Barbara Simon, daughter of Andrew Simon and Elizabeth Geckler Simon, in Columbiana County, Ohio. All of Christopher and Barbara's children were born in Columbiana County, Ohio. They can be found in the 1820 and 1830 census of Fairfield, Columbiana, Ohio. The family moved to Prairie Twp., Holmes County, Ohio around 1834. They can be found in the 1840 census and 1850 census for that township. Barbara passed away in Holmes, before 1860. Christopher moved to Cedar Creek Township, Allen County, Indiana after her death and can be found in the 1860 census for that township.
