Barbara (Barbary) was one of the ten children of Andrew Simon and Mary Elizabeth Geckler/Keckler. She was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania, where the family resided, after a move from "over the mountains" where the first four of her syblings were born.

Her father Andrew bought land in Columbiana County, Ohio in 1802. In this same county resided Christopher Bair. He was a son of Rudolph Bair and Barbara Yerian.

Barbary married Christopher, before 1812 in Columbiana County, Ohio. She was a member of the St. John's (Salem) Church in Columbiana Co. Barbary and Christopher lived on the "Andrew Simon section", (640 acres) of land in Salem Township, Columbiana County, Ohio, which also made homes for five other of her siblings. The Bair couple then moved about a mile further east, in that same county.

All of their children were born in Columbiana County, Ohio. The family births are recorded in the Christopher Bair Bible that is documented in "Ancestral Notes from Chedwato" by Charles D. and Edna W. Townsend, Supplement Ancestral Notes; Number 15, May 1964, pg. 178.

In 1837 the family moved to Holmes Co. Ohio. Tax assessment record 1837 Tax assessment: 13-13-10 E1/2 NE; 80 acres. The family is recorded in Prairie Twp., Holmes County, Ohio's 1840 and 1850 census. Barbary passed away sometime after Aug. 14, 1850 and before 1860. Christopher moved to Spencerville, Cedar Creek, Allen, Indiana and is the 12 Jul 1860 census .
