Scouting first became a profession for him in 1987 when he was appointed District Executive in Susquehanna Council in Williamsport. After six years with a local United Way as executive director, Kevin returned to scouting in French Creek as Senior District Executive and District Director in Mercer County. He then assumed the post of Scout Executive for the Chief Cornplanter Council in 2006. Kevin was a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, a Woodbadge threebeader and was honored with his adult religious award. He also has been a Tiger Cub Den Leader, Welebos Leader and Pack and Troop Committee Member.
Kevin loved nature, loved camping and loved scouting. It was through his love of scouting that both of his sons obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. He enjoyed genealogy and spent many hours in cemeteries researching. Kevin was also a history nut, and took his sons to visit many different battlefield over the years. He was a proud Alumnus of Ohio University Bobcats, where his one son is entering his junior year and his youngest son will be a freshman in the fall. Kevin was vice president of the Tidioute Borough Council and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beth August Bonner, whom he married November 7, 1987 in Conneaut Lake, Pa., his 2 sons, Daniel and Brian "Frodo" Bonner, both at home, a brother, William Jay (Kim) Bonner of Wexford, Pa., a sister Mary Ellen (Tom) Pendel of Coraoplis, Pa., his black lab, Cara Mia, his motherinlaw, Nancy August, Brothersinlaw, Jeffery, Val and Lee August, his "adopted daughters" Aubrey Sonney and Morgon Silvis, and "adopted sons", Jon Buccardo and Conor Coughlin, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
