Vity J. Kundrot of Stoughton, a World War II and Korean War veteran and retired owner of Vity's Sanitary Engineers, died Sunday at his daughter's home in Stoughton after a period of failing health. He was 84.

Born and raised in Stoughton, Mr. Kundrot was a lifelong resident.

He graduated from Stoughton High School in 1943.

During World War II and the Korean War, Mr. Kundrot was a petty officer second class in the U.S. Navy.

He was the owner of Vity's Sanitary Engineers in Stoughton for 40 years before retiring in 2000.

Mr. Kundrot was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 1645 and American Legion Post 89 both in Stoughton, as well as the Fraternal Order of Elks, Norwood Lodge.

He was past president of Wally Byam Airstream Caravan Club, a sustaining member of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association and an honorary major with the Massachusetts State Police. He also enjoyed dancing, going out to dinner, telling jokes, magic tricks, traveling and westerns.

Husband of the late Evelyn (Lewis), he is survived by his current wife, Olivia; four daughters, Diane M. Sousa and Lee A. Malinowski, both of Stoughton, Gail P. of Whitman and Joy V. Scimone of Bridgewater; two sons, John V. and Edward R., both of Stoughton; a sister, Alice White of Bridgewater; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. tomorrow at Faith Baptist Church, Stoughton.

Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
