Raymond Michael Caucci, 68, of Mayfield, died after a brief illness on Tuesday afternoon at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Peckville, he was the son of the late Lando and Josephine Bahara Caucci. He was a graduate of Rubidoux High School in Riverside, Calif., and a graduate of Cal State University at Los Angeles, where he was a member of the National Championship Football Team. Raymond had a 35-year career in education, where he retired as principal at Lakeland High School. His true passion was coaching football, where he devoted countless hours of his time over the last 43 years at Jessup, Lake-Lehman, Lakeland and Western Wayne high schools. He was a former President of the Lackawanna Scholastic Track Conference, and for 36 years he officiated track and field meets. In 2011, he was recognized as Man of the Year by the Scranton Lions Club. Additionally, he had a passion for traveling and history. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Pegula; and his daughter, Jennifer. The funeral will be Friday from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St., Jessup, PA 18434, with Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment will take place at St. John's Cemetery, Jessup. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
