A private family gathering will be held this morning with a gathering at Stan's home starting at 3 p.m. today for his friends. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military rites conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246. Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Niabi Zoo.
Mr. Metzner was born Nov. 25, 1948, in Monmouth, the son of Donald and Hazel M. Dismuke Metzner.
He had been employed by Alcoa as a container fabrication tech for more than 20 years.
He served as a military policeman for the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl L. Martin, Kingston, Ga.; a son, Jeffery S. Metzner, Kingston, Ga.; one grandchild; and brothers, Donald L. Metzner Jr., Little York, Ill., and Steven Metzner, Monmouth.
