Granville served in the Confederate Army, 24th VA Infantry. He was 29-years old, 5'8" tall, hazel eyes and dark hair. During one skirmish, his brother Edwin was killed while beside him. After the fighting was over, Granville went back to the field and covered his face with a hankerchief. Years later, Granville attended the Confederate Reunion in Mobile, AL. He was a farmer in Mercer Co., WV and Tazewelll Co., VA.
