RIPLEY - The Rev. Earl Welch Bailey, 82, of Ripley, W.Va., died Nov. 18, 2003, at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley.

He was born Sept. 28, 1921, in Hiawatha, W.Va., a son of the late Levi Thomas and Marsha Gladys Hatcher Bailey. He was minister of First Christian Church of Ravenswood since 1982 and retired from Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp. as a millwright and maintenance planner. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World WAr II. He was a member of the Ripley Masonic Lodge No. 16, Nemesis Shrine Temple AAONMS of Parkersburg, Knights of Templar Dowell Cammandery No. 28, member of the Jackson County Ministerial Association. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jane Ford.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Ravenswood First Christian Church with the Rev. Thaddeus Allen and Dr. William Allen officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Ravenswood First Christian Church.

In addition a visitation will be held Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton, W.Va. Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Lyon officiating.

Burial will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery, Princeton, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Council. A Masonic grave service will be conducted by Princeton Masonic Lodge, 134 AF & AM. In addition to flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ravenswood First Christian Church, 105 Gallatin St., Ravenswood, WV 26164.
