On Saturday, February 1, 1908
Mr. William L. Rawlings died at his home, at the age of 70, after being ill for some time.
William was the son of Moses Rawlings and the grandson of Revolutionary hero Col. Moses Rawlings. The town of Rawlings Station was named after him.
As a young man he worked for many years in farming, but in later years he became involved in other endeavors. For several years he was Register of Wills for the new county of Garrett.
He returned to his hometown of Cumberland in 1891. He was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church, of which he was one of the most faithful.
He was a husband and father.
He was also a member of the Ohr Lodge of Masons and the Society of the Sons of the Revolution.

William L. Rawlings was my great-great grandmother Maria Sprigg's brother. That would make William my 3rd great grand uncle. He was married to Guildie Knight. They had two sons, Lloyd and William Sprigg Rawlings. (JA)
