1. Enlisted in in Harrisburg July 10, 1864, mustered into federal service there July 18 as a private with Co. E, 194th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company November 6, 1864.
2. Enlisted in Harrisburg March 4, 1865, mustered into federal service there March 6 as a private with Co. I, 77th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company December 6, 1865.
He married Alwilda M. Smith in 1886 and fathered Merril (b. 08/??/84), Homer Ellsworth (b. 07/08/90), and Ruth I. (b. 03/27/98 - lived to 102). Later relocating to Harrisburg, he there was a member of Simmons Post No. 116, G.A.R.. Cause of his death is listed as "pneumonia" with "cardiac asthma" a contributing factor.
