~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bonnie Ellen Wold was the only child of Charles and Ellen Potts Wold. She was born and grew up in Detriot, Michigan, and spent many summers in Canada where her mother had grown upn and where she had extended family. She was an excellent student who was valedictorian of her high school class, and a cum laude graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1970.
As a girl, she was active in 4H where her interest in animals of all kinds led her to competitive horseback riding. She continued to enjoy riding horses through much of her adulthood. Her love of animals was evident from the many years she had brought rescued animals into her home.
In the early 1970s, Bonnie married Karl Wagner, Jr., with whom she had a son before the marriage ended. In 1977, she married Michael Hosick and two additional children were born. After moves to Alabama and Texas, the Hosick family settled in Greensboro in 1984. The couple later divorced.
Bonnie was a member of New Garden Friends Meeting for many years, active in the Cora Worth Parsons Circle, and was the Office Manager for 22 years.. She was the public face of New Garden for the many visitors who stopped by the office during the week and helped to coordinate activities of groups that used the facilities. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her three children, Karl (Angi) Wagner III, Matthew Hosick and Amanda (John) Hosick Garmon; four grandchildren, and cousins in Toronto, Canada.
AN ASIDE: I had the privilege of knowing this Lady through my frequent forays to New Garden Friends Cemetery. She was always warm, friendly and helpful..., and there was often time to talk of family. She would literally glow when speaking of her children and grandchildren. I wholeheartedly agree with Ms. Cothern's closing remarks in her memorial tribute..., "She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends."
