Daughter of Kathleen Lucille Wyatt and Grace B. Freeland. She met and married Ray Hunter on December 21, 1951, in Arlington, Virginia, while Ray was stationed at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. During their marriage, they had two children, Phillip and David.

Barbara accompanied her husband to various military locations as they raised their sons. After his military retirement, the family returned to Northern Virginia.

Barbara obtained a job with the U.S. Government and had a long and honorable career before retirement. She was preceded in death by her father, Grace B.Freeland; mother, Kathleen Wyatt Freeland and brother, George M. Freeland.

AN ASIDE: I met Barbara and Ray Hunter through by second wife, who had known them from Army days. They were devout, kind and enjoyable friends who stood with my wife and I during our marriage vows. They were a very positive influence on my wife's children who, to this day, continue to miss their presence.
