Rufus was the son of John Monroe Morgan and Sophronia Ross. He married Lucile Armstrong. Rufus worked at Blue Ridge Rayon Mills, Inc. in Altevista, VA, in 1936. By 1940, he was in Laurens, SC. Rufus graduated from Central Wesleyan College and became a Methodist minister. He was a Democrat and Independant candidate for State House of Representative, District 20, Greenville Co., SC. "A vote for me is a vote for law and order and for putting prayer and Bibles in our schools." He had Parkinsons Disease and Alzheimers.
