"Mrs. Landona Calfee, Former Resident Of Bluefield, Succumbs.
Funeral services for Mrs. Landona Penelope Calfee, 86, who died Saturday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G.W. Meador of Burnt Chimney, VA, were held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 at Hawkins Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. Eugene May, pastor of the First Christian Church officiated, assisted by the Rev. Wendell G. Davis, pastor of College Avenue Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Calfee family cemetery here.
Mrs. Calfee had been a resident of Bluefield until about five years ago when she moved with Mrs. Meador to Burnt Chimney, where she since made her home.
Mrs. Calfee's husband, William M. Calfee died in May, 1940. She was also preceeded in death by two sons, James and Charles Calfee.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. W.F. Perkins of Bluefield, and Mrs. Meador.
Mrs. Calfee was born April 26, 1859 at Falls Mills, Virginia, a daughter of John W. and Margaret Nash Johnson.
Grandsons served as pallbearers and granddaughters were flower bearers."
