Karl was the son of Edwin Johnson Compton and Mavis Reta Davis. He married Lucinda Sundergelt, Mary Lee Squier, and Deborah Bredfeldt.

Obituary from "HeraldNet," Everett, Snohomish Co., WA, online news:

Karl Allen Compton, 60, died January 20, 2009, in Everett, Washington, after suffering cardiac arrest. He was born April 27, 1948 in Panama, Canal Zone, the second son born to Edwin and Mavis Compton, later raised by his father and Winifred.

Karl served his country in Vietnam. He also spoke 7 languages and was able to apply some of them during his 22 years in the military. He worked in the communications field as a splicer and loved anything to do with technology. He loved riding his Harley Davidson through the beautiful countryside of Washington with his wife Debbie, and truly appreciated the nature around him. Karl enjoyed taking walks with their dog Lizzie and always stopped to talk or just say "hi" to everyone. He was a people person, and everyone he met as a stranger was a friend the next time around. Scuba diving was also a passion, be it diving or teaching.

Karl loved movies, especially anything to do with science fiction. Music of all types could be found on his MP3 player and the CDs he collected over the years. He was a loving husband, son, brother, father and grandfather.

He was predeceased by his father and mother. He is survived by his loving wife Debbie, sister Patricia Forbes, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, brothers Tommy Neal of Lewiston, Idaho, and Ricky McGlade of Diamond Head, Mississippi; father of Heather Borders and grandfather to Molly and Blake of Fresno, California. Also extended family, including an aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a memorial service at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at Solie Funeral Home, 3301 Colby Avenue, Everett, Washington.
