"Robert Paul Howe passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 30, 1929 in Kalamazoo the son of Harold A. and Mary (Vanden Berg) Howe.
"He served four years in the United States Air Force, during the Korean Conflict from 1948 to 1952. Robert was a high school administrator and teacher for many years and in many locations, Mendon, Marcellus, Leslie and finally Chippewa Hills, retiring in 1990.
"On February 13, 1954 he married Joann Newton, who survives. Robert and Joann spent many mornings at Theo & Stacy's Restaurant on Portage Road and enjoyed Bingo. He will be missed by many.

"Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Friday in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., with Rev. Dr. Robert Terwilliger, officiating. Interment will take place next week in East Fork Cemetery, Barryton, MI. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM." Obituary, newspaper.
