He served with his brother Milton and brother-in-law, Henry Pittman, in the Twelfth Regiment Kansas Volunteers - Infantry, Company C, mustered in Osawatomie, KS Aug. 22, 1862; Mustered out with reg. June 30, 1865.
Married Ellen Harmon, New Years Day 1868 in Cass Co., MO. Two sons: William Wesley "Wes" Goodwin & vid John Goodwin.
After Aunt Ellen died, he married a lady by the name of Anna (Annie) (Herrin) Mobley in Vernon Co., MO. It was the second marriage for both of them.
Retired Farmer & Stone Mason, he died of Arteriosclerosis. Death Certificate # 23280, informant: Mrs. Anna Goodwin, El Dorado Springs, Cedar Co., MO.
