On April 15, 1949, he married Mary Frances Vandenberg. (She is buried next to him under the name Mary F. McPeake)
He served in the U.S. Army from April 1945 until December 1946. He was stationed with the occupation force in Osaka Japan. While there he was in a truck accident which resulted in a head injury which eventually resulted in his death.
