Lloyd L. Eakes, 74, of Anderson, died Feb. 25, 2007, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born Feb. 7, 1933, in Nashville, Tenn., and had been a Madison County resident since 1943.

He was a graduate of Markleville High School.

He was a veteran who served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

In 1985, he retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors after 30 years of employment.

Lloyd attended Lifeway Baptist Church in Ellettsville, Ind.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth (Haines) Eakes of Anderson, whom he married Dec. 28, 1952; brothers, his twin, Floyd and wife Jane Eakes of Anderson and Carl and wife Clarice Eakes of Norwalk, Ohio; sister-in-law, Betty and husband Robert Priest; and nephews and nieces, Michael Eakes, Gary Eakes, Richard Eakes, Dennis Eakes and Kevin Eakes, Jon Eakes and Stephen "Jay" Eakes, Sherry Ruth Belbot, Teresa Rigney, Bobbie Haines, Jeff Haines and Trevor Belbot.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, William Clifton and Verna Mae (Stewart) Eakes; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Edna (Huffman) Haines; brother-in-law, Robert E. Haines; and a nephew, Roger Dean Priest.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 W. State St., Pendleton, officiated by Pastor Kevin Albert. Burial will take place at Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton.

Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Lahm Chapel.
