AUBURN | Charles Bowman, 70, formerly of Cayuga, passed away June 4, 2013 at Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center.


Born in Ithaca on Oct. 28, 1942, he was the son of the late Ronald and Frances Robb Bowman. He graduated from Union Springs High School and was a member of Cayuga Methodist Church and the Cayuga Fire Department. Charles was a former Cayuga Village Police Officer and served his country for 4 years in U.S. Army. He was employed as a mechanic at Harris Barton's Garage in Port Byron and later owned his own garage in Cayuga. In the past recent years, he drove trucks for several local companies.


Charles is survived by his two daughters, Laurie Landes of Brunswick, Ohio, and Suzanne Cook, of Conway, SC; two brothers David of Auburn and Bruce of Fenton MI; three sisters; Mary Joan Gardner of Wayne PA, and Helen Vier of Richmond TX, and Shirley Baker, formerly of Port Byron; five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and by his ex-wife Lois Bowman.


In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Sally Bowman Hastings.
