OWASCO | Anthony J. "Butts" Butera, 91, the husband of the late Olga Wilceynski, of 60 Adams Avenue, Town of Owasco, died Friday the 28th of August, in Auburn Community Hospital unexpectedly.


A native of Auburn, Anthony was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a veteran of World War II. He served with the U.S. Army and was a member of the Corps of Engineers. Butts' first position of employment was at the Columbian Rope Company. He did not enjoy factory work. He then received a position as a Corrections Officer with the New York State Department of Corrections. He continued at his position until his retirement. He was very proud and enjoyed the men he worked with at the Auburn Correctional Facility. Anthony and his loving wife Olga were both very talented carpenters. Together they built eight beautiful custom homes in the Auburn area. Anthony and Olga enjoyed traveling a great deal. Together they saw most of the United States and a great deal of Europe.


He is survived by a son, John Allen Butera and his wife Jacqueline, of Auburn; two brothers, John R. and his wife Sue, and Robert A. and his wife Vivian, all of Auburn; three grandchildren, Anthony J. and Anna M. Butera, and Wendy Reynolds; and great-grandson, David VanTassell; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews; and a longtime friend, Patricia Jordan.


In addition to his wife Olga, Anthony is predeceased by his parents, John and Adele Christintello Butera; and two brothers, Joseph and Michael Butera.


Private viewing and services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Josephs Cemetery.


Arrangements are by the Cheche Funeral Home.
