Esther R. Adamus, 88, of Court Street, Cayuga, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center, Auburn. Esther was born on April 1, 1923, the daughter of Philip and Enesta Depetris Casciotti.


She grew up in Ithaca, and was a former employee with NYSEG, Ithaca. She relocated to Cayuga with her husband, John Adamus, and raised their two sons, Michael and Edmund in Cayuga. She was a former employee of the Cayuga Elementary School, a lifelong golf enthusiast, doll collector and floral designer. A good puzzle was always a treasure for Esther. She especially prized her neighbors and good friends.


Esther attended St. Alphonsus Church and formerly St. Joseph's Church in Cayuga. Surviving are her sons, Edmund (Mary Sgarlata) Adamus, of Lowman, N.Y., and Michael Adamus, of Syracuse; two grandsons, Nathan and Neil Adamus, of Annapolis, Md.; sister, Irene (Angelo) Petito, of Newfield; brothers, Philip Casciotti, of Ithaca, and Guildo (Helena) Casciotti, of Ithaca; several nieces, nephews She was predeceased by her husband John in 1989; as well as her brothers, Louis, Aldo and Ronald Casciotti; and sisters, Agnes Viskocil and Helen Johnson.
