Eunice was born in Greene County, Indiana to Augdeon and Nancy (Nation) Burch on April 14, 1924. She was married to Thomas Nelson Figg on August 5, 1945; they shared 65 years together on their farm and raised their family. After graduating from Ellettsville High School, Eunice worked at RCA during the war. She loved cooking, baking and watching the wildlife outside her window. She especially liked working in her garden and sharing her bounty with family and friends. Eunice attended Old Dutch Community Church and was a member of the Old Dutch Ladies Aid. Eunice will be missed dearly by her loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Jerry Warthan, and seven siblings.
Eunice is survived by her husband, Thomas Nelson Figg; sons, Samuel (Jody) and Timothy (Vicki) Figg; daughters, Treva Warthan and Vera Figg; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Betty Skirvin. A special thanks to Debbie Shean who was a wonderful caretaker for Eunice.
Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Steve Warthan officiating. Burial is to follow at Old Dutch Cemetery.
