On February 21, 1996 Blake Michael Dickus entered the world as the only child of Christina Leanne (Whittemore) Dickus and Stephen Sean Dickus. Blake was conceived in North Carolina where his Dad was stationed in the Marine Corps but was born in Indianapolis, Indiana upon completion of duty. After Blake's birth, Christina and Sean had their first home built in Franklin, Indiana where they lived for several years until they were divorced. Christina never remarried.

Stephen "Sean" Dickus married his second wife, Chynna Lynne Anderson in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Having lived in rental property for a while, they decided to have their "new" home built in Franklin, very close to the new high school being built. Little did they know having lived there for only one month, their lives would be forever changed. Chynna Dickus was also murdered at the same time Blake was in his Dad's new home. Chynna was a nice step-mom to Blake and she also spoiled him with love.

Blake grew up with a great big family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins! He was always doing something with his Mom's family. Grandma (Christina's mother) watched Blake while his Mom worked. She would watch cartoons with Blake, laugh at him when he talked like Stitch, and watch him play his Sonic the Hedgehog video games. Blake was so lucky to have such a loving family—all of them asked him to come over to play, bought him surprises for no reason, took him to special events, made him feel like he was "the most special person in the whole world".

Christina always dressed Blake really cool. She was so proud of him. His step-mom, Chynna, had to ask her how to fix his hair just right because she didn't know how to make it look just like his Mom did. Blake's Mom always splurged on him —she bought Blake really nice things because she loved him so much. He even had his own cell phone to contact his Mom or talk to his Dad. BLAKE was the MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN THE WORLD TO HER!!! Blake's Dad, Sean and Chynna always made Blake feel special too. Blake ALWAYS KNEW that everyone LOVED HIM!

Blake loved riding the bus to school, although his Mom and Aunt Stephanie drove him to school quite often. Blake's favorite subject was math, which he excelled in, and the very worst subject was reading— although he didn't mind reading about Sonic. Blake loved it when he was old enough to walk to his friend's house after school or go to the park to play. Damien and Adam were Blake's neighborhood buddies and his best friends!

Blake had a lot of friends at school, especially his twin buddies, Dallas and Austin —they spent the night at both, Blake's Mom's house and his Dad's house several times. Besides playing video games, Blake loved to ride his bike or scooter, playing basketball, and going swimming. Blake's Mom always took him, Grandma, Grandpa, and his cousin, Sarah to Fort Myers Beach, Florida every year for vacation. It was so awesome!

Blake's favorite foods were pizza, macaroni and cheese with catsup on it, and pancakes with syrup AND catsup! He was a real picky eater and didn't really like meat.

Blake attended Indian Creek Christian Church with his Mom and her family. He always said a prayer before eating and at bedtime. He just loved vacation Bible School—they always had such funny skits, games, food, and most of all the love of Jesus and all his friends. Even though Blake was only ten years old, he loved God and gave his heart to him. He also attended Grace Assembly of God in Franklin with his Dad and Chynna.

Blake never had a chance to say good-bye to his Mom or Dad as he was taken away from his loving family, teachers, and friends and was violently Murdered along with his Step-Mother, Chynna Dickus.

Date of Burial was 29 July 2006 which was celebrated with a huge balloon release. Mom, Christina had a large boquet of ivory white balloons with gold crosses on them and everyone else had white balloons. Her balloons would NOT go up!! Witnesses everywhere!! The huge boquet of Balloons would not rise. She pushed them to go up and they floated over to Blake's Grandma, Carole who held up her hand and they glided right into her hand. She pushed them back to Christina and they went straight into her waiting hand. Then Christina tried again and the balloons floated over to Blake's cousin, Trent, then circled and landed right in front of the open mauseoleum where Blake was. Christina still has the balloons - they never did go up in the air even though they were filled with helium. Christina's friend did not believe that they had helium in them so she slit one open, he inhaled the helium and talked funny. He believed now. She still has the balloons (2017), they are not very big after 10 1/2 years, but still have some size and helium still in them. A lasting remembrance that GOD IS GOOD and comforts those in grief. That is a miracle and there are many witnesses to testify to the experience. Amazing!!!

DJ, fellow graduate and long time best friend of Blake Dickus, provided Christina Dickus with a memorial mortarboard and tassel in Blake's memory during the graduation ceremony at Franklin Community High School. Blake's family was invited to see this very touching milestone. DJ is an exceptional young man who was touched so deeply by his best friend's death at such a young age. The entire family of Blake Dickus wants to thank DJ and sends best wishes for a wonderful future!
