This Obituary was published in the New Britain Herald:

Jennifer Lynn Hawke-Petit, 48, of Cheshire, beloved wife of Dr. William A. Petit Jr., passed away tragically on Monday, July 23, 2007.
She was born in Morristown, N.J., on Sept. 26, 1958, the daughter of the Rev. Richard and Marybelle Hawke of Slippery Rock, Pa., and Venice, Fla. A graduate of Greenville Senior High School in Pennsylvania, Jennifer was the captain of her drill team, a member of the National Thespian Society, and member of her Homecoming Court. She received her degree in nursing from Sharon School of Nursing in Sharon, Pa. Jennifer began her career as a pediatric oncology nurse at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, where she met the love of her life, Bill. Prior to their marriage on April 13, 1985, in Meadville, Pa., Jennifer was employed as a pediatric nurse at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y., in addition to performing nursing duties in Sarasota, Fla. Jen and Bill continued their medical careers at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Following the joyous births of their beautiful daughters, Hayley Elizabeth on Oct. 15, 1989, and Michaela Rose on Nov. 17, 1995, Jennifer began working as a school nurse for Cheshire Academy, a private boarding school. Her loving and generous nature necessitated her being more than a nurse; she was, by extension, a mother and a friend to all of the students, who honored Jen by dedicating their school yearbook to her in 2005. Jennifer was a woman of great faith and an active member of the Cheshire United Methodist Church, serving on numerous committees, including education, fellowship, and vacation Bible school.
She directed Sunday school, where she taught children from grade school through high school. In her spare time, Jennifer was an avid reader, who also enjoyed playing the piano and guitar. It was her love of music that inspired the musical interests of her girls, Hayley and Michaela. Jennifer's kindness, along with her understanding and compassionate heart, touched the lives of everyone she met, and she will be keenly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Jennifer is survived by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Barbara Petit of Plainville; her sister, Cindy Renn, and her husband, Bill; brothers-in-law, Glenn Petit, Mike Petit and his wife, Erin, and Brian Petit; and her sister-in-law, Johanna Chapman and her husband, Dennis.
She also leaves her nieces and nephews, Evan, Lydia, Rachel, Alicia, Michael, Brook, Tristan, Paige, Abby, and Andrew; her grandmother-in-law, Florence Triano; aunts and uncles, Jean McNuff, Judith Hodge, Jim Buchanan, Elnora Richards, John Hawke, Johanna and Joseph Ierna, Frank Triano, Andrea and James LaChapelle, Edward and Roberta Petit, Beverly and Larry Joyce, Sharon and Eugene Beaulieu, Gary Petit, Clara, Marilyn, Victoria, Sally, and Linda Petit; as well as several cousins and countless friends.
