Amanda Dowler aka Milly was found dead in remote woodlands 6 months after she went missing. Her murderer was found guilty and sentenced to life in 2011. That day, she had left school as normal to catch a train home but got off the train one stop before her usual stop.
This was so that she could visit a cafe at the station with a friend and share a bag of chips.
Milly called her Dad to let him know this, and told him she would be home soon.
After finishing the chips, Milly set off to walk home.
She never arrived and was reported missing.
For 6 months, police searched for her while her family hoped and prayed that she would be found safe and well.
But in September 2002, everyones worst fears came true when Milly's body was found.
