My 4th Great Grandfather.

Born in London, England to Charles & Rebecca (Wright) Knights.

Brother of Henry, William, Isaac, Eliza, Charles & Zechariah.

Arrived in Canada in 1836 with his family & moved to New Hampshire.

Married Emily Dearborn on September 16, 1852 at Lake Village by John Blaisdell, Esq.

Father of Ellen O, Leonard & George W.

John worked most of his life as a painter.

In 1862 during The Civil War, John fought bravely in Company G of New Hampshire's 12th Voluntary Regiment, "The Mountaineers" along with his brother-in-law, George W Dearborn.
He was injured at "The Battle Of Cold Harbor" in 1864 & after being hospitalized for 3 months, rejoined his troop to continue the battle.

Honorably discharged at the end of The Civil War in 1865.
He was plagued by his foot injury for the rest of his life & often used a cane.

John was present at the death of his brother-in-law George W Dearborn at Pitchwood Island, Lake Winnipesaukee on July 22, 1885.
