The Carnegie Herald
Roy Holland
Roy Holland was born at Roff, Ok. April 5, 1891, died at Silver City, N.M., November 9, 1918, aged 27 years, 4 months, and 5 days. Roy lived in this part of the state some 15 years, going to Silver City a year ago last June for his health. His mother went to New Mexico the first of the year to keep house for him and when he was stricken with the influenza, his father went to his bedside.
The body was shipped to Carnegie Thursday and the funeral was held at the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. R.J. Morgan. The body was laid to rest in the Carnegie cemetery.
Roy owned a barber shop in Carnegie for a time and has scores of friends in this vicinity who hold his friendship in the highest esteem. He is also well known at Ft. Cobb where he was in the barber business. The profusion of flowers which were presented the family both here and at Silver City marked the regard in which he was held among his friends.
Besides his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Holland, Roy leaves three sisters: Mrs. J.A. Glover, Mrs. S.N. Beebe and Mrs. Leroy Beebe. Three uncles, J.P. W.W. and C.P. Norton of Ada, attended the funeral.
