Catherine "Katie" (Schmidtbauer/Smithbauer) Bowers was the daughter of George and Mary Eva (Loidl) Schmidtbauer/Smithbauer. She was the wife of John W. Bowers. They were married in 1875. She had 11 children - in 1900 there were 9 living children. She was the grandmother of Dorothy Geraldine (Bowers) Eckert and gr-grandmother of Clifford "Coke" Andrew John Eckert, of Lewiston, NY, formerly of St. Marys, PA/Williamsville, NY/Escondido, CA.
