Mrs. Edith Foltz Stearns was a pioneer woman aviator originally from Dallas. She died in Corpus Christi in June 1956. She won the first Powder Puff Derby annual air race for woman in 1927. Her pilots license was signed by Orville Wright and issue same year. She had been flying for six years before that. The received the Kings Medal, one of Britain's hightest awards for foreigners, during WW2, when she ferried bombers to England. She had been a Navy instrument flying instructor in Kingsville in the past.

She married (1) Joseph Rathelle Foltz (1890-1970); (2) Harry Dickinson Stearns (1898-1956).
