David Matthew De Santiago passed away suddenly on Friday, January 6, due to a tragic accident. Our precious 11 year old David was loved by everyone who came in contact with him. He was born in Bakersfield and currently was in 6th grade at Christa Mc Auliffe Elementary School, where he loved PE, and was looking forward to going to Camp Keep in February. He was diagnosed with autism at an early age and attended the social skills program at Valley Achievement Center on Stine Rd. for 4 years, and always looked forward to going there. David's favorite cartoon characters were the Peanuts Gang, especially Charlie Brown and Snoopy. He also enjoyed playing baseball and basketball in the League of Dreams. He loved hats of any color or shape, and at any moment was ready to dance. He always was happy to have a rubber band in his hand for stimming.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Lorie and Jeff Stewart, his father, Martin De Santiago, sisters Shawnmarie and Kareena, brothers Aiden, Ryan, and Nathan, loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, best friend Junior, and many other friends who loved him.
A celebration of David's life will be held on Saturday, January 14, at 11am , at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd., Bakersfield, CA, followed by a graveside service. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in David's name at any Wells Fargo Bank. www.bakersfield.com/obits
