A native of Dole, France, Jean-Marie-Felix Amoudru was the son of a lawyer. Entering the Order of Preachers, he was ordained priest in 1901. Sent to serve in Canada the following year, in 1907 he was assigned as vicar of St. Catherine's church in Saint Petersburg, then part of the Russian Empire. With the French financing the building of a church dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes the following year, Amoudru remained active in the city despite the unrest then present all over Russia. Secretly consecrated to the episcopate by Msgr. Eugène Joseph Neveu AA., in Moscow in 1935, he was expelled from the USSR later that year, leading him to spend his remaining years in Switzerland and his native France, where he passed away in 1961.
