Former Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Karachi, Monsignor Simeon Anthony Pereira born in Sukkur, present day Pakistan on October 19, 1927, and was ordained to the priesthood on August 24, 1951. Appointed secretary to the archbishop and chaplain to the Sisters at Manora, he went on to serve as rector of Don Bosco's Boarding School for Boys, being eventually named in 1952, assistant rector to the then Father Joseph Cordeiro at Saint Pius X Seminary in Quetta. Parish priest of Saint Francis's Church at the Old Haji Camp, he also cared for Saint John's church at Drig Road.

At 43 years of age he was named Auxiliary for the See of Rawalpindi, receiving his episcopal consecration with the Titular See of Badiae on October 7, 1971. On December 17, 1973, he was named Ordinary of the Diocese of Rawalpindi. Named Coadjutor for the Metropolitan See of Karachi on March 22, 1993, he succeeded to the Ordinariate following Cardinal Cordeiro's death on February 11 of the following year.

Retiring from office in November 2002, Archbishop Pereira passed away on August 21, 2006, aged 78, and was laid to rest beside his predecessor, Cardinal Cordeiro in the Grotto located on the grounds of Saint Patrick's Metropolitan Cathedral.
