Born in Baie-du-Febvre, l'Abbé Moïse Duguay was ordained priest on September 5, 1845. Vicar of his native municipality and successively of Cap-Santé, Saint-Augustin-de-Portneuf and Yamachiche, he rendered humanitarian services during an epidemic which struck Grosse-Ile between 1847 and 1848. Curate and later Archpriest of Sainte-Flavie, on his death he was buried in a brick vault 'in cornu Evangelii'. The municipality of Saint-Moïse was named in his honour.
