Born in Baie-Saint-Paul on February 19, 1690, to René de la Voye and Marguerite Bouchard, Claude de la Voye was ordained to the priesthood on April 7, 1715 in Québec. He was assigned to the parish at Baie-St-Paul, Quebec and died in 1717 most likely from the scarlet fever and was buried in the cathedral.
