History of Bureau County, Illinois
Mark Anderson of Macon, Illinois was born in Bedford County, Penn., October 23, 1831. He is the son of Samuel and Margaret (Tygart) Anderson. In 1856 Mark came to Bureau County, Illinois and bought eighty acre farm and began its improvement, it being at that time open prairie land. He now owns 200 acres and gives his attention to stock rising. He was married in Bedford County, Penn., in April 1853 to Wealthy Horton, a daughter of Thomas I. and Sarah (Foster) Horton, natives of Penn. The family moved to Bureau County and Marks father died here. The couple has seven children, viz.: Uphamy J, wife of Frank Henderson of this county, a native of New England; Margaret, wife of Neal Anderson, a native of Canada; Allen of Buda; Sarah E, Lyman T, Samuel and Hugh.
