In 1913 she was united in marriage to William Carpenter, he departing this life in 1924. Besides her children, she leaves to mourn her loss five sisters, two brothers, 13 grandchildren and five stepchildren and a host of friends. She was a devoted member of the Methodist church of Ellis During her illness she patiently endured her suffering and was very grateful for every kindness shown her. Her faith in God never wavered and her constant thought was that she might get well. She will always be remembered as one who, having accepted an obligation, gave her best thought and talent to its accomplishment.
Thus there has gone from among us one whose life has been an inspiration and help to all who knew her. Her many friends will greatly miss her pleasing personality and jovial disposition. The funeral was held Monday afternoon, February 27, at the Ellis . M. E. church with Rev. C. F. Wagner in charge. The floral offerings were especially beautiful. She was laid to rest in the Diller cemetery.
Mrs. Carpenter was postmistress at Ellis 17 years until she resigned last summer on account of failing health."
