Son of George Washington Crooks & Rozanna Huffman Crooks. Several of Uncle George's brothers, sisters, and other relatives, including two sons (Dennis & Gary Crooks), and including his wife's parents (Walter & Pearl Marvin), are buried nearby him in this cemetery.


CHARLES CITY — George Crooks Jr., 82, of Charles City, died Thursday (Dec. 17, 1998) at the Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Sunnyside Chapel, Highway 218 S., Charles City, with the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. today until time of services.

Memorials may be given to the George Crooks Jr. Memorial Fund in care of the family.

George Crooks Jr. was born March 24, 1916, in Iona.

Survivors include his wife, Merle, of Charles City; three daughters, Judith A. Balsley, of Clarksville; Barbara M. Boyer, of Charles City; and Valerie J. Stolfus, of Sumner; two sons, Gary L. Crooks, of Charles City; and Eugene D. Crooks, of Mason City; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Stansberg, of Charles City; and Robert Crooks, of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, eight brothers and eight sisters.
