The Fortineux name was later changed to Fortney.
Parents were Jean Henri and Renata (Spohn) Fortineux.
Immigrated in 1730 to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at age 22 on board ship "Thistle" arriving August 29th.
Married in 1735 and had seven children: Susanna Catarina, John Hendrick, Charity Charlotte, David, Christina, Daniel and Peter.

STRUCK by LIGHTNING
- Henry Fortney was struck by lighting out side of his home about 4 miles from town. Two children were also struck but soon recovered that had been near by him. He was killed due to he was leaning on his gate. Said to have had no marks on his body, only his long beard was singed.
