Alfred Enlisted May 6, 1861 in Co. E, 6 Reg't Maine Vol. Infantry; mustered July 15, 1861; promoted to be corporal April 5, 1863; was wounded at the Battle of Rappahannock Station, Va., Nov 7, 1862; was missing after the action of May 10, 1864, and probably killed then. His name is on the Solders' Monument at Bucksport."
