Adam had two wives, first Emma Marley 1760-1798 and their children were John Isaac, Adam Jr, David, Mary Polly, and William Clapp.
Second wive was Ruth Lawrence 1764-1847, children were Catherine, Capt. Elisha and Nancy Clapp.
Adam's parents were John Phillip Clapp 1731-1698 and Barbara (Maiden name is Clapp) and married name is Clapp, (she is daughter of Ludwig Clapp)born 1742.
Adams grandparents came to Pennsylvania on the ship James Goodwill, the ship's master was David Crockett. Then settled in Guilford County, North Carolina. They had originally come from Germany then England and on to America in 1727.
