William Allison, born about 1810 in Tennessee, was still a boy when his father died in 1821. He married Louis Perkins in 1826.

William undertook the task of building the house "Beechwood" his father had started. During this time, he also operated the plantation and served in the Tennessee Militia, reaching the rank of colonel.

Col. Allison and Louisa had five children: Samuel, William, James, Sarah and Thomas. Sarah died in childhood in 1833, while William and Samuel died in young manhood.
