Mary Kathryn Brian-Goetz died July 10, 11:20 a.m. at her son's farm, surrounded by her family. In her yearlong struggle with Alzheimer's, she was cared for by her family at home. She was born in Lawton, OK on August 31, 1930. Mary Kay was of Oklahoma pioneer stock. She was the daughter of George and Margaret Glasby. Her father's parents and grandparents came to Oklahoma with the opening of the Cherokee Outlet, and then later settled in Lawton. They were the operators of the first meat market at Fort Sill. Later, they operated Glasby's food store in Lawton for 50 years. She had a brother, Don; and another brother, George. Mary Kay went to school in Lawton and Cameron College. In 1952, during the Korean War, she married Glenn Record. While she was living in Japan, he was killed in a plane crash in the Sea of Japan. She went back to Lawton and later married Capt. Patrick Brian in 1957. She had three children and was married for 23 years. She divorced and many years later, was remarried to Loren Goetz in 2004. She was preceded in death by her brother, Don, in 2003; Loren in 2012; and her daughter, Margaret, in 2014. Her brother, Don and his wife Bobby were very special to her. She is survived by her brother, George Glasby, of Bulverde, TX; her son, Robert, of Mulhall; and her daughter, Kelly Novakowski, of Edmond. She has seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mary Kay had a full life and was a fierce advocate for all her children and grandchildren. Her love for all her family was unconditional, unapologetic, forgiving and profound. She lived in Europe and traveled extensively when she was younger. She worked as a travel agent in Oklahoma City and traveled all over the world. She bred Cocker Spaniel show dogs and was proud to have bred three Best in Show dogs. Mary Kathryn was quite a character, and her spirit lives on in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Edmond. Her service will be on Saturday, July 25 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's. Afterwards, a wake will be held at her son's farm west of Mulhall. Services are under the direction of OK Cremation and Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.
